At Mikiten Architecture we strive to promote Sustainability. We define Sustainability as efficiency and effectiveness that best meets the requirements of the present and the future.

True Sustainability has an environmental, social, and economic component. We bring this recognition to every one of our projects. Through research and experience, we have developed a Sustainable Building Strategy that enables us to create projects that exceed our client’s expectations on many levels. Through the careful use of space and resources we create wonderful places that enhance people’s lives. And by emphasizing environmental sensitivity throughout the life of the project, we are able to nurture an end result that our clients and everyone involved can be proud of.

The four components of our overall sustainable building strategy

A. Site/Context
We consider first what opportunities we have in front of us. What are the solar and environmental elements that we can take advantage of? We work with the site and its surroundings in order to minimize our impact on the land.

B. Energy/Atmosphere
Building orientation, form, materials, daylighting, and ventilation must all come together to create a more efficient environment. The result of this is also a higher level of comfort in the building.

C. Materials/Resources
We first explore the use of natural, recycled, and cost-free resources before selecting new products. Design of the building form, size of the structure, and the building systems' efficiency all must work together.

D. Habitat/Community
we create buildings with healthy indoor environments through the use of healthy materials, fresh air supply, daylighting, and the filtering of allergens. Our goal is to create functional, appropriate, and pleasing places that enrich people’s daily lives. We also work to create places that benefit the local community, both through function and aesthetics.
