ARCHITECT/PROJECT MANAGER

Mikiten Architecture is seeking an energetic architect/project manager capable of producing first-rate construction documents in ArchiCAD, and managing clients and contractors with a minimum of supervision. Mikiten Architecture (www.mikitenarch.com) is an award-winning, socially responsible, green architecture firm. We specialize in affordable housing, universal design and single-family projects. Since 1991, our firm has established one of the strongest reputations in the Bay Area for design and service, and our projects win national and local awards. We use ArchiCAD software on Macintosh computers for all our projects. Everyone from drafters to the principal uses ArchiCAD to design in 3D, produce presentation drawings, and to produce construction documents. Our design work is meticulous and our office environment is creative, challenging and fun.

The ideal candidate will have a constructive team-oriented attitude, California license, a degree in architecture, experience with multifamily affordable projects, proficiency in ArchiCAD software, great communication skills, and be able to manage the work of others. We are seeking someone with strong design and technical abilities, a commitment to affordable housing and social justice, and exceptional client skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manage multiple projects, including creating work plans, schedules, designs, and supervising the preparation of architectural drawings and renderings.

2. Develop construction details and specifications.

3. Coordinate the work of people on multiple projects, allocate work amongst team members, ensure deadlines and fee projections are met.

4. Research products, with an emphasis on sustainable solutions, while providing code and specification information and guidance to junior staff.

5. Coordinate engineering/consultant drawings with architectural drawings and with each other, and participate in office quality assurance

6. Perform construction administration for single family and multifamily projects; attend weekly or bi-weekly jobsite meetings.

7. Model designs in 3D CAD and produce presentation drawings using ArchiCAD and other graphics software.

8. Production and coordination of 2D and 3D CAD drafting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Fully competent in all conventional aspects of wood-frame architecture.

2. 6+ years of applicable experience.

3. Ability to efficiently assemble an entire set of construction documents with minimal supervision.

4. Passion for integrated 2D/3D CAD.

5. A strong sense of responsibility; proven ability to meet deadlines and budgets.

6. Tactful and thoughtful negotiator.

7. Strong visualization abilities.

8. Sound independent judgment.

9. Freehand/presentation drawing ability.

10. A dedicated team player with an upbeat can-do attitude and a solid sense of humor.
