At Mikiten Architecture, we begin every project by presenting the client with literature on the logic and reasoning behind Sustainable Building practices, a copy of our Sustainable Building Strategy outline, and a list of Sustainable Building practices that are applicable to their project. We feel that it is important to keep our clients well informed throughout the project, so that they can feel confident in the decisions that they are making. In addition, we understand the importance of emphasizing Sustainable Building Practices from the very beginning of a project. Our next step is to sit down with the client, and the other professionals involved, to identify the specific Environmental, Social, and Economic risks and opportunities associated with the project. Following this discussion, we will work with the client to create a list of goals for the project. We have found that issues are often complex, and so we use our Sustainable Building Strategy to organize issues and ideas into a comprehensive outline for the project. Every decision that is made, throughout the life of the project, will be made by weighing the gains and losses, of that decision, against the priorities of Sustainable Building, and the specific priorities of the project itself. This process enables us to always come up with the best solution. The knowledge, experience, thoughtfulness, and pragmatic approach that we bring to projects helps us to make Sustainability more than a good concept, a reality. |
